David sang 6 songs - over 2 sets .
For the first set David was seated and sang One Old Soul, Time, Salt Water - for the second set he sang Rocket Man, Lady Lullaby, and White Noise standing at the mic. It was strange to see David back holding the mic. I liked him doing both sets and missed the piano too. I hope he continues to play piano too, it's the heart of David' s music and I hope it stays there. .
Sometimes things come together and everything feels right. With more backing instruments providing depth, should be awesome. Well done to David M for playing an exacting backing – and to David for returning to top form and performing these excellent gigs.
David sang with only guitar backing, both sitting and standing – it brought back many memories.
The Troubadour boasts a multi-coloured, charged atmosphere, the walls are stacked with memorabilia. Downstairs the venue is unexpectedly roomy with cosy alcoves, a Bar area and seating at round tables.
I’ve been here before, and tonight seemed slightly chaotic. All the artists did two spilt sets. Other artists seem to be on for ages, but David for only 3 short songs on each set. There is always a pleasant hum of chat here – with some listening intently and some with only half an ear.
I am always filled with eager anticipation to hear David perform, even though I’ve seen several gigs at different venues, David never fails to surprise and totally engross me.
Tonight David was keyboard-less with David Mullins expert backing on guitar. I kept wondering what he would do with his hands - later he held a glass of red wine between his knees, all very relaxed and chilled out. Along with the drama of his voice and songs, David loved being back at the mic. He grew up performing in musicals.
Billy gave us another singing session later. I had the best time and a little worse for wear managed to haul a wet me back to Glasgow the next day.
(we were caught in a sudden downpour on leaving the venue) One of my favourite fun venues.
David acknowledged his fans at the start of the set with a smile and a nod in our direction. Later he also took a photo of us all! Cheers David.
David says more gigs in the pipeline, possibly more musicians too,.. . As David says ‘all good.’
