"David shows now a maturity of style with personal yet edgy and sensitive piano-based songs."
The ORAN MOR venue Glasgow is just 10 minutes from me. Sadly I was on holiday in France and was unable to make this gig. I've seen other artists here and it s classic venue - quite dar iwth lots of atmosphere. I would love to have heard David's full set here. Many said it was a magic gig.
Thanks to Pat and Amanda for sharing their pics and Amanda's great review.
Also to Pat also for recording a fab DVD - so I could share the gig.

David & John at the ORAN MOR gig Review, Glasgow 22nd July 2006 -
David performed a full set of 11 songs: One Old Soul, Time, Insomnia, Little Things, Northern Lights, No More Words, Not Your Son, Lady Lullaby, Nothing Ever Happens/Stop Living the Lie, White Noise, God or No God.
'' The new songs are full of optimism and joy. David's performance at Oran Mor was in the zone..
Sometimes, just sometimes everything is perfect.
The company, glorious sunshine, great city.
and then what happens:-
Added to the mixture we throw in a truly amazing singer who can write top class songs, who can give you heart rendering performances bringing subtle nuances to his compositions.
Not only was the performance all of the above last night, but it was the best I've ever heard David sing. He was totally relaxed and just seemed to be at ease with himself and it showed in his singing, the depth of his range and the brilliant strength of his voice.
The main man "JK" was on stage accompanying David and the banter flowed freely between them, their voices blend so well and they seem to bounce ideas, jokes and ideas so freely off one another.
Well done lads a truly amazing evening and a very special performance.
I knew Glasgow would be special and it was.

What a lovely gig!
David opened the set with ‘HELLO Glasgow!’. It was obvious his thrill to be playing to his home crowd after so long.
The Oran Mor offers a top class venue for singer songwriters with intimacy and atmosphere.
David shows now a maturity of style with personal yet edgy and sensitive piano-based songs. He looks engrossed in the music.
The set was well paced, interspersed with John’s light guitar leading on several songs offering a change of pace from David’s more dramatic piano playing. They performed a full set of 11 songs from David's forthcoming album.
John backed with strong harmonies , and the guys make a tight and fun partnership on stage. David’s songs are intense and moving, and the boys varied the set with several songs that made me smile – The Little Things, Time, and and a new take of Del Amitri's 'Nothing Ever Happens' that became David’s hit song 'Stop Living The Lie' and is in fact the way David intended the song to sound.
David’s songs ache with yearning and hope, from questioning to joy.
From the drama of One Old Soul to the lyrical beauty of Lady Lullaby, the depth of Insomnia ( David’s vocals were rich and expressive for this first performance of the song, he was in the zone!), to the intense powerful quiet of No More Words, the questioning of Not Your Son, the joy of Northern Lights, the heartbreak of Insomnia, the optimism of White Noise, to the poignancy of God or No God.
On several songs such as No More Words, I can hear the orchestra playing along, how I’d love to hear that!
I enjoyed David sitting sideways at the piano, we could enter his world of music and expression.
According to many fans David's best gig yet.
