12th August 2005
Highlights for me were Harry’s harmonica weaving gently around David’s sexy soulful vocals on Goodbye Baby, gets me every time. Insomnia, which starts with depth and is a gripping song with strong vocals and engrossing piano playing. One Old Soul, the set opener full of drama. Northern Lights, with its lilting beauty. The hope of White Noise and the very emotional God or No God as the encore. It was obvious that David was having the best time on stage!
.** David Sneddon & John Kielty : 12th Aug 2006, Motor Neurone Benefit Gig, Town Hall, Johnstone Scotland
Backed by Martians Harry and John, David performed 13 songs to a packed hall of family, friends and fans.
David performed 13 songs: One Old Soul, Northern Lights, Time, Insomnia, Take the Weather With You, Lady Lullaby, Not Your Son, Goodbye Baby, Rocket Man, Brown Eyed Girl, White Noise, Nothing Ever Happens/Stop Living the Lie, and
God or No God.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. Johnstone Town Hall is a large divided room with long tables along both sides and on the raised stage sat the familiar keyboards and on the left flashing disco lights. In the centre of the large hall is a big space for dancing. We are here to party, enjoy a gig by David and John, and fundraise for David's favourite uncle to help with his treatment for MND.
David spoke of his fond memories of his uncle in the press recently. A table in front of the stage is adorned with framed photos of David – from 2003, signed album covers, alongside the other raffle prizes. There’s a guitar with jacket on top.
Its not long before David and John are doing a sound check and we are wondering when their set is going to start.
This is so different to a normal gig. The boys are obviously here to enjoy themselves among friends. family and fans. David is in excellent form and spends time chatting and having his photo taken.
Their set starts and David has relaxed and friendly banter with the audience, laughing and cracking jokes, so much so that at one point his head hits the keyboards, he is just cracking himself up! Then he starts his hauntingly beautiful Lady Lullaby only to find he’s so distracted he cant’ find the words to the second verse!
To top this later he dons Elton glasses to do his very individual Rocket Man! (sorry my camera battery gave up so no pics of the Elton bit!) Elton taught David to play piano , so thanks Elton! For their encore they did their amusing ' Nothing Ever Happens' version of Stop living the Lie, which is actually the way David intended the song to sound.

We were also entertained after Davids set by Harry and Houston doing some very good cover versions, so thanks guys.
After the hour set many of us rushed to the toilets, and I met a woman there who was saying how David had everything – the personality, the looks, the charm, the voice and the wonderful songs. I so agree!
This was a special Fundraising gig to raise funds for his uncle Jim McKinnon treatment of Motor Neurone disease (MND). This is an incurable disease that slows down the bodies processes; a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurones, the cells that control voluntary muscle activity such as speaking, walking, breathing, and swallowing.
