29th July 2006
Right, I shall try and get my thoughts together for some sort of report.
We were up at Dunstaffnage for both days heard some great music from eclectic mix of traditional music to Indie bands to Blues from The amazing Tam White on Friday, and David John and Harry, Harry and Houston, and The Sensational Alex Harvey band on Saturday.
Friday was a great day as well, we arrived about 1 and after setting up the tent had a look around, after the last few weeks of glorious sunshine the weather took its toll got soaked a couple of times when the heavens opened up but hey we were in Scotland !! The grim Northern Social were the first band on which was a shame as they are a great band and there was only a handful of people listening. I think the running order could have been better, but that’s a personal opinion.
Friday's headline act was The Peatbog fearies, fantastic mix of traditional music made rocky, superb.
Saturday the weather followed much the same pattern as Friday sunshine and showers.
Met up with Rosemary and Kate whilst we waited for festivities to begin, after having a listen to first couple of bands decided to have breather back at the tent in readiness for the main event, I spotted a familiar figure coming towards us, a certain Mr Sneddon who stopped to have a chat, then as he went to walk away said,
oh by the way I think we are on next, an hour and a half early so had to grab my shoes and head down to the arena (they were moved up the running order as the band on before them had a car breakdown )
Frantic rush trying to ensure other Sned fans knew of the change in time, luckily everyone was in arena ready for the start.
David and John were joined on stage by Harry or "Bob Hoskins" as David kept calling him, I cant remember the exact order - One Old soul was the first song when David started there was just a handful of people in the tent, but as the music belted out it soon brought the crowds in,I think it was then Northern Lights, Time we then had a couple of covers Take the weather with you, Brown eyed girl, David said he had to do those as they were the only songs Harry knew lol we were also lucky enough to have a superb Goodbye Baby with Harry on harmonica brilliant,
Insomnia and White Noise to finish, The banter on stage was brilliant as usual made enough funnier with Harry’s presence.
David's voice was superb and they got a good reception from the crowd, we did wonder why some people popped out halfway through the set, a gust of wind had lifted a rather large marquee and blew it out to sea so the crowds were trying to grab it before it got lost for good!!
Harry and Houston were on the smaller stage a bit later on doing a set of great cover's much to the amusement of a couple of hecklers namely David and John really funny, John joined them for one song and a lot of funny banter, The Martians were in full flow.
David and John were last seen rocking away to The sensational Alex Harvey band, David kept telling me they were an awesome band unfortunately very very loud for my poor ears, my son informs me Alex Harvey band dedicated a song to Davey Sneddon, by this time I was totally deaf on one side.
It was great to meet up with fellow Sned fans Rosemary, Bev, Kate and Emma and great to have a chat to Harry Houston Steve and Mike as well .
Hope this all makes sense but my brain is completely numb by now, hope to see you all on the 12th in Johnstone
Love Marian xxxx
Ps sorry I seem to have rambled on again!!!!
Just realised I missed out Lady Lullaby doh told you my brain was frazzled
