David Sneddon is a musician, singer and songwriter from Glasgow with an instinctive feel for a beautiful melody. David had a string of chart hits in 2003, and he works as a songwriter in London. He is taking it back to basics with no PR or runners in sight….... only himself, his piano and a few songs.

4th February - A nice mention of David on The Talent Show (you can watch ITV player) last night - said his songwriting was going well.  

I managed to watch the program. David did not appear for any interview about the show
(neither did Lemar). I have to think David does not want to be associated in any way with the show he was on, so long ago now.

Yesterday a track from Lana Del Rey's forthcoming debut album 'Born To Die' was leaked as the track 'National Anthem' - predicted to be a chart success – and which was co-written with David Sneddon and The Nexus.

Belief ....I feel I've just had my long held belief in David validated overnight it seems...! To all those other fans who have bolstered and supported me with their equal belief, I send my huge vote of thanks. Early January I felt so calm about David as if all the times of 'worrying' for him had lifted and floated away.....
Then googling Friday I read about his song for Lana - I was so hoping he’d have a song on her album as the next Big thing. It truly is the best news.

2011. Writing news - This has been an exciting year for David with his writing successes. Hurts sold nearly 1 m albums and toured the major festivals. David and the Nexus co-wrote songs on Matt Cardle's album. He has been working with some very talented new artists who've been gaining a lot of interest on YouTube.
David appears to have established himself as a songwriter of note in London.
(no pun intended!)

The past 3 years since David chose to focus on his song writing in 2008, I hoped I might follow his writing career. He had been working in an underground way to hide his identity, so it has been hard detective work often to know what he's been doing! I only post here about artists the press have already published online and that appear to be 'officially' connected to David's work. I've been following David's music career since 2003 now and writing his Bio.

December 2011 - I enjoy to support David and his music but feel so sad for his hiding. I have written David Sneddon's Wikipedia page, his Bio, Photos, reviews

September 2011 - David has also co-written songs for 2010 X Factor (UK) winner Matt Cardle's debut album "Letters" which is due for release in October 2011. David works with the UK based songwriting and music production team "The Nexus" and has been building a strong reputation as a songwriter the past years.

Summer 2011 David became engaged to his long-term girlfriend, who works in television in London. Congratulations to them both!

David is doing things in reverse! He had the high profile album release and tour first... and then the Publishing deal afterwards... and it feels like the start of his career now..

June 2011 - In the Sun today - David Sneddon is revealed as the songwriter behind sythnpop duo Hurts album 'Happiness'. His team the Nexus co-wrote 3 songs on their debut album - 'Illuminated', 'Silver Lining' and' Blood Tears and Gold.'
 

David has been working in an underground way as a songwriter the past years.
If you check out David's newer songs on Youtube and myspace, they are entirely different from the over-produced sound of his hit singles after the show in 2003.

David wanted to be an artist and not a popstar with all that entails, so he took a back step to be a writer. As Joni Mitchell once said ' What do you want to be, a rock n’ roll star or an artist?’ For you can't want to be both.
David has something important to say in his music and a beautiful voice to say it with, so I hope he will sing again one day.

I've been to many of David's gigs from 2003 to 2008. Sadly he has not gigged the past years, preferring to focus on his writing career which is going very well for him. While I miss his gigs and songs badly I want successes for his music.

April 2011 - I'm not here because I expect another No 1 single - I'm here because I respect David both as an artist and as a person. It is hard to explain what it is like doing a site for an artist in 'hiding.' Seeing these recent photos makes me miss you more.
My biggest heroes are not about charts - as Joni once said, 'Do you want to be an artist or a popstar, You can't want to be both.'

It's very wonderful to know you love the songwriting and things are going well for you David. I used to write - can't you do both songwriter and singer songwriter - but I was wrong and best all your energies are focused on one direction. And true for most of us. As this is clearly your route in you have to focus all energies on it.
Of course I miss you and your songs terribly - but we all have to follow the right path, and give that 100%.

Hopes 2011. The hiding will stop! I feel like I am holding a candle vigil for David - as if he no longer really exists out there..... Some fine new songs.
For me David will always be number one.

December 2010 - How long ago Highbarn now seems... David kindly signed prints for me, which I greatly appreciate. I don't know if we will hear any news of him next year? Will we ever hear you sing again? I read he is out and about at the London venues, so I guess he still exists somewhere in a parallel universe? I try to focus on the good things being a fan - all the lovely songs, his magic voice - I hope things are well with you. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

October 2010 - 8 years ago in 2002 was the last time I voted on a Reality tv show for the talented David Sneddon from Scotland. I've never voted since as it is all such a farce.
He is now a successful songwriter working in London.

20th Sept 2010 - David's indiestore 7Digital closed.  YOU CAN HEAR HIS SONGS -
It was nice seeing his 'White Noise' ep in their chart the past years, and at No 1 often over that time. It's now over 3 years since David released these songs in early 2007 - and 2 years since his last gig at Scotcare.

We've had little news this year - only the news of his trip to LA for his songwriting work, his cancelled gig in January, and no other songwriting news. David is rarely online. I'd like to be able to say there is some news, but sadly I can't. Sorry. I try to keep the faith and to hope there will be something, sometime.... some new songs. The last time David performed was at the Regal Room July 2009, I never saw the webcam.  

2010 - David focused on his songwriting career 2008 - 2010, 
while he also performed a few occasional gigs in London in 2008. He signed in 2009 with new management and to major publisher Sony/ATV as a songwriter.
He has been working with several high profile, as well as highly-anticipated emerging artists in both 2009 and 2010. Some exciting releases expected.

May 2010 - DAVID SONGS
His 2003 album songs were autobiographical. His 2006 songs about the self reflected in others. These new songs are about universal themes - with their powerful leaping melody, character stories and heart-wrenching vocal. While not the acoustic style of his 2007 White Noise ep, these songs have even more raw emotion and depth - along with a more commercial and radio-friendly sound. Being a fan has often been either feast or famine.
As if travelling in a dessert - we see an oasis ahead but its all a mirage - and then suddenly we get to drink at the well and hear new songs... It's a rollercoaster ride, where my emotions have been all over the place, and it has been so long - worrying, wondering, questioning, ...

In 2010 David travelled to LA for his work. I am happy for him as I know that success for his writing is his dream. Sometimes we get stuck in a box not of our own making, and altering perceptions of us are nearly impossible - hopefully they can be changed..... one day.

31/12/09 - STV 'The Scots Factor', a documentary - includes a mention and Tv clips of David. Shown at 10.15pm before STVs Hogmanay show - and celebrating the best Scottish talent in 'Scotland’s Always Had Talent'. Plus the Academy Live which features hart-toppers Travis and The Fratellis. Susan Boyle's album is the biggest-selling debut of all time - while she is not the first Scot to be successful in a reality talent competition. In The Scots Factor, STV remembers the many Scots who have lit up Britain's talent shows, including Leon Jackson, Michelle McManus, David Sneddon, Keith Jack - and Darius Danesh..

Dec 5th 2009 - Regal Room January gig is cancelled due to David's writing commitments and his possibly being out of the country early 2010. David blog -
he feels very badly about letting people down and says he plans to re-schedule the gig - soon I hope. The good news is his writing work is going very well. I do the site to support David's talents and his music, whether sung by other artists or by David himself.

The Ep has topped the chart the past 3 consecutive years from 2007. Well done David!

She started Pace drama when she was 11 alongside the likes of James McAvoy and David Sneddon. She auditioned for X factor but never got in, and ‘ prefers the traditional recipe to success: hard work and talent. If you are born with a dream you should never let it go. People expect success too quickly, even I was guilty of that.’ I was guilty of not working as hard as I should have.’
David is so much better looking now!  

August 2009 - David signs new deal with major publisher SONY ATV
‘I’ll be working with various well-known pop acts. We’ve got some work lined up with other labels like Decca Records, Universal and Syco.'It’s a massive opportunity. To an extent, this is a bigger achievement than winning Fame Academy. To become a respected songwriter is something I’ve wanted for 15 years.' 
David has been completing his apprenticeship as a songwriter by penning tunes for a number of up-and-coming stars with James Mein.
“This deal has been in the pipeline for a year…we wanted to wait for the right deal. I’ve taken a bizarre route to become a songwriter. I don’t think there’s been another reality TV winner who took a back step to this side of the industry but I like being able to get on with my work. We had to prove ourselves...so that’s why we did a lot of development work.’

Could you attend a David charity Gig this year? Date: Nov - Oran Mor venue Glasgow -  great venue, good size and atmosphere etc. If David is too busy with writing commitments - then into 2010 - while I hope we can go for one in 2009!

July 7th 2009 – David performed at the Regal Rooms London
He was being a judge for a singer songwriter night and performed after.
No idea what he sang – perhaps he can manage time for a gig for his fans? Apparently some fans knew about this gig (?) We've not heard David do a gig for over 9 months now and it would be wonderful to hear him sing.
Disappointing.

Capgemini Black and White Ball raises £55,000!
Held at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel, the dinner was attended by over 400 of Scotland’s leading businessmen and women who were joined on the green carpet by David Sneddon and Miss Earth Scotland. Scottish TV celebrity, Bryan Burnett was Master of Ceremony.

June 2009 - David BLOG myspace - he says his writing work is going well.
While I wish for gigs and new songs it is also good that David is focusing 'for now' on his writing work.

June 2009 - NEW link SYTWs album reviews I’d not seen before. David Gigs – Nostalgic for David gigs so I’ve put the Colne gig in my top Photo section.
Photos were taken with my small digital. This was a wonderful gig and many fans raved after about it, you can see the comments. This was my first time hearing David play piano and sing with John Kielty and his performance was mesmerising. I've been down for the May gigs the past 2 years. Sorry David – we do miss hearing your piano songs, hearing you sing.

Wonderful to hear ‘Without You’ live, David’s beautiful Celtic-tinged piano melody from his top SYTWs album. A strong favourite of many fans. David looked cool in a light grey suit.

Friends are travelling from both London & Glasgow to the village of Ermington in Devon for David's 30th birthday bash - where a marquee will be set up in the garden of girlfriend Eleanor Roffe’s family home. (Paisley Daily Express)

4th Sept 2008 - PACE founder David Wallace - celebrating its 20th anniversary. 
Wallace talks about how Pace gives children confidence and communication skills. He mentions 3 high profile successes from PACE – actor James McAvoy, singer Poalo Nutini and Fame academy winner David Sneddon. Good Press.

I remember back in 2006 David gave a highly illuminating interview with FPR(Free Paisley Radio) about how important Pace drama was in his life, offering him something new and challenging while he was still at primary school.

COMMMENT: 2007 was a very busy year for David - on top of his writing commitments he did a number of gigs and put out his EP. 2008 has been quieter. Artists have to travel a journey through their influences to find their own voice. Some make it to the other side. I knew when I heard the EP that David had found his voice. I keep hoping for another full set gig from David, the 4 or 5 songs gigs just don’t quite do it – not for an artist at David’s level. So while 2008 has been quiet, it has also been very exciting and encouraging to see all the positive interest in David and his music - on both YouTube and the Indiestore.

::August 17th 2008 - 'White Noise' EP is No 1 Indiestore chart
(18 months after its release!). The EP has been at the top of the chart the past 8 months - at No 2 and No 3 in July 2008. Which is really very impressive and I hope puts a big smile on David's face.

July 2008 – Songwriting: David has been writing with Nate James.
Nate headlined at the famous Montreal Jazz festival July 2008 to over 120,000 - where he is touring and ‘the Message’ (Top 5 Europe), co–written with David, is to be released in Canada.

*1 July 2008 - The Halo Bar : David headlining classy gig and venue!.
He sang Little Houses, Scars, NoOne and White Noise. 
Dave Gibson sang a strong set, including songs written with David and Jay.
David promises a full set as part of his Plan! Here's hoping.

23rd June 2008 - The famous Water Rats London - *David with no shoes!
sang a set of 5 songs - Little Houses, Scars, One Old Soul, My Plan and NoOne.
No new songs. His vocals were perfect and he projects so well - accomplished and exactly right.  

*17th June 2008 - At the Troubadour London **David’s best Vocal - 
David sang a longer set of 6 songs (much better than the divided sets).
Little Houses, Northern Lights, My Plan, Scars, One Old Soul, and No One.
On stage David is by turn funny, touching and vital.

Scars has a pure simplicity, very moving.

David performed 4 new songs, co-written with backing guitarist David Mullins, whose guitar is 'creative and refreshing'. New Songs - Scars, Little Houses,
NoOne and My Plan - are guitar-led and quite different. Good to see David tapping his feet! David also backed Dave Gibson, who has a big soul voice.

New Songs !- Scars is already a favourite, Little Houses is stuck in my head, and NoOne is very moving. My Plan, I enjoy this song a lot. More challenging, they express questioning soul-searching, and great to hear David testing the boundaries.

David said he’d written over 40 songs for other artists the past 6 months he’s been busy writing.  He looked well and was in good form, in dark cord jacket and shiny red tie. David and Jay Mein also backed Glasgow singer songwriter Dave Gibson for his fun London debut gig of 6 songs. A fun-filled upbeat gig, with many fans watching on the webcam.

30th Nov 2007 - David travelled to Inverness to see his mate John Kielty’s dream of having his musical THE SUNDOWE (which won the Quest for a new musical in 2006) performed at Eden Court Theatre. John co-wrote for David’s ALBUM and they continued writing and performing together for several years. They started a band called the MARTIANS in 2002.

When David shunned a life of pop stardom after winning a £1m recording deal, his co-writer John Kielty decided to write a musical. "When David won I went to London & co-wrote on his album. David chucked it quite early but we were still working with writers and flirting with record companies." The experience gave John, who played with David in band The Martians pre-Fame Academy, the chance to see what David didn't want. "We'd write great songs, and still the record company would want a different kind of song from what we were doing.
"Having said that, I learned my trade during that time in London. I said to David when he quit in 2003 that I was going to write a musical - populated by zombies, vampires and Martians." 20/10/07 – THE REGAL ROOM - David played 3 new songs ‘The Bricks Move On’, ‘Rocket Ship’ and ‘Colder Blue.’ Also a treat to hear Julian Perretta sing,
he is a cool guy with an awesome voice.

*12/08/07 - KILSYTH International Carnival Scotland (David’s first up here in over a year!) The crowd was lining the grassy slope down to the Colzium stage. David's set went down well and they enjoyed hearing his hits – and Elton’s Rocket Man. A big treat to hear the moving ‘Wish You Well’ live.
David did 8 songs with David Mullins on backing guitar - One Old Soul, Don’t Let Go, Time, Rocket Man, Lady Lullaby, Stop living the Lie/ Nothing ever Happens, I Wish you well, White Noise.
Colzium park is an intimate park for a festival, with people dotting the grassy slopes down towards the main Colzium, stage. There was a Japanese tea ceremony in the Walled garden, an enclosed area for dancers and drummers, the waterside stage surrounded by stalls and rides and the Acoustic stage.

 OBAN FM Cash for Kids On 23rd March David performed with top Ceilidh band Skerryvore at the sold out Cash for Kids Gala Dinner Dance, Argyllshire Gathering Halls, Oban.  
The event raised more than £11.000 for the charity.
David sang acoustically Elton’s Rocket Man on OBAN FM to great response. – on the live all day auction (103.3FM) with Neil and Alan. Feb 2007 - It has been a busy and rewarding few months for David. He has put out his first recording in years, and with little promo is very pleased at how well it is selling.
The 'White Noise' EP has been high in the Indie Charts since its release, hovering at No1 and No2 and now holding its own.
*Song Writing - David's writing career is on a roll and he has been working hard as a writer since moving to Polydor in January, in fact he says his wrist are aching from playing piano. *One Old Soul - Is the stand out track on David's new EP. This awesome love song has had - The most positive feedback. Sold the highest number of downloads.

14/01/07 - Review Bristol Evening Times - David Sneddon who, accompanying himself on piano with David Mullins providing additional guitar and vocal accompaniment, was next up. The one-time chart topper said: "I'm a songwriter and I write pop songs for other people." If so, he has been holding back some of the best stuff for himself, for there was nothing cheesy about the strong and well-crafted songs like Time and Insomnia.

We decided to do these five shows together and if these go well we'll go up north and do some there as well. 21/12/06 Review HighBarn Dunmow Broadcast  - IT WAS standing room only at High Barn in Great Bardfield as David Sneddon. ..played a 90-minute "This is an amazing venue.. I would rather play here than Wembley. "
The performance was stripped down with only two musicians on stage. Sound engineer- "The crowd loved him. He's a very talented performer and he played a great set that obviously went down well with the audience."

*16/11/06 – Marylebone Christmas Lights, with gloved hands for the winter chill, David sang Don't Let Go, Northern Lights, White Noise. Tony brought him back for an encore and David performed his hit single Stop Living The Lie – his voice soaring over the crowd. David was on a stage lit up with decorative owls sat in blue- illuminated trees, and white fairy lights – all very magical including a Harry Potter star!

*9/11/06 - Troubadour Gig: David & John performed at their best a professional set with wonderful vocals: One Old Soul, Northern Lights, God or No God, Lady Lullaby, Time, White Noise.
John’s backing vocals blend so well, his deeper baritone alongside David’s tenor voice. I am proud of the route David has chosen, he is working hard writing, recording and doing gigs. At the moment recording his EP, which will be called White Noise. He has a total of five songs doing really well worldwide, one for a fairly big pop star in America.

NEW HORIZONS - John is off to the US!
**John is moving to San Francisco January 25th. Before that he will be playing Aladdin in panto at the Kings theatre in Glasgow.
David announced. ‘After tonight my good friend John Kielty is off to America.’ After the gig David simply said, ‘Thanks John.’  I hope they spent a great few days in London.

*8/11/06 David Blog's – David loves being a songwriter and also gets a buzz from the live gigs. He has 4 hit songs world wide, one for an American pop star. 'I love being a songwriter. It's a weird thing though. This week I've had 4 songs picked up around the world for various artists...a few hit records in the top 10. Tonight however, I play the Troubadour with MY songs to an intimate but passionate crowd and get a bigger buzz!!! I love these gigs I'm playing at the moment, it feels like a whole part of the London music scene I missed out on. It's fun meeting the other musicians on the circuit…with my writing doing well I could happily gig till I've got a bus pass.'

6/10/06 - Betsey Trotwood, London. David & John(sporting a beard which caused some Jesus jokes!) performed at this cosy venue. They did 4 songs, White Noise, Northern Lights, Lady Lullaby and God or No God, and got a great reception. EP out in December and to be called 'White Noise'.

23/10/06 - 2tooMuch venue, a Rainforest Festival in Soho, David performed another solo set at the small and packed Bar. At a grand piano that took up most of the stage, he sang One Old Soul, Liza, Lady Lullaby & White Noise, to a disparate audience of artists, gay men and petite oriental ladies! His set was delayed from 5.30 to 9pm. And camera men were causing a bit of chaos around the stage - all sounds a bit chaotic! But hopefully he made some new fans!

*9/10/06 - David Solo - David took to the familiar Bedford stage - with his keyboards centre stage he did a confident set of five songs. His vocals were expressive and richer in tone, he came over very strongly, and connected well with the audience.  Full Review

Oct 28th, a Halloween-theme bash for 200 guests. Songwriter Sneddon, who recently penned the international smash hit ,The Message, for soul singer Nate James. "I can't give too much away but, yes, I am playing at his party, which is brilliant." Sneddon is playing a series of acoustic gigs in London and is working on a new album, due next year.

Comment : DAVIDS' NEW ALBUM - Due out next year (???) There is no time now for an album this year, it takes months to get an album released etc etc etc. At least David has promised us an EP soon, don't let us down this time David. Paulinex

4/10/06  Cobden Club, Nottinghill – David & John, did another successful gig at the music night, with David smart in white shirt and black tie. 05/09/06  NEW EP! - Over the past month from July 13th to August 16th David and John have enjoyed doing nine gigs in London & Scotland.
David is really enjoying these gigs and is now recording an EP with plans for more gigs soon – after his holiday. He has mentioned gigs up north so fingers crossed.

08/08/06 - Paisley Express: David’s back on Song for a Very special Gig
A very personal interview with David. He talks about his fond memories of his Uncle Jimmy. David and his family are teaming up to raise money for vital medical treatment for his uncle, Jimmy Mackinnon, who has been diagnosed with incurable Motor Neurone disease. “I shall be at the piano singing my songs &, John Kielty, will accompany me on guitar…There will be no set formula, we shall just sing and play along as the mood takes us”
Before the year is out, David hopes to release a new album.

This is an incurable disease that slows down the bodies processes – a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurones, the cells that control voluntary muscle activity such as speaking, walking, breathing, and swallowing.
All money raised will go toward an experimental new treatment.

05/05/06 – DAVID GIGS 2006!! David announces plans for acoustic gigs with John Kielty: at Dunstaffnage Music festival in Oban (29th July) with SAHB, the Alex Harvey band, And the Bedford, and a gig in Glasgow.

05/06 -  NATE JAMES - Takes 'the Message' to Europe: Tour dates for release of his Album, Set The Tone/ Nate’s first single release in Europe, The Message, co-written with David is currently playlisted on MTV and radio stations in Europe!! upfront of a July/Aug release. Nate's debut album Set The Tone is set for re-release on June 5th in the UK.

07/04/06 - David's Broken ankle - He has broken his ankle playing 5 a side football on Thursday. He’s in plaster and feeling a bit sorry for himself! Perhaps he’ll be able to write ‘bitter bitter songs’ as he says on MySpace. You can post there and wish him a speedy recovery.

David in the Writing Zone: David has put 2 demo songs on MySpace – 'White Noise' and 'Lady Lullaby'. He says he is writing some of the best he’s ever done so he is trying to get as much written and recorded while he is ‘feeling it’  And also working on the right sound for his new album, so after he’s done he says, he’ll be out doing ‘intimate gigs.’

02/3/06 David has set up a MySpace page – so check it out! He’s continuing to work on the new album, and he says it has an 'acoustic indie pop/rock' feel to it..., but most importantly it has some very strong songs.

David Grant, best known as a voice coach on FA show, spoke about how popular David was on the show, and that being a pop performer wasn’t the path for him. (or for John from S Club apparently). Interesting comments from someone in the business... "David Sneddon was very smart. When you play the pop music game as a performer, writing and recording take up very little time and the rest of the week is spent promoting. Fame Academy gave him the platform he needed. "
